Project Overview
Midnight Blue follows three generations of performers across a shrinking live-music district. The piece was designed as a cinematic documentary short with a focus on atmosphere, practical lighting, and observational camera movement. We captured performances in active venues, preserving the natural rhythm of each set while blending portrait interviews shot at 2AM to maintain tonal continuity.
Challenge
Film in uncontrolled night environments while maintaining a premium visual texture and intelligible interview audio.
Approach
Used compact cinema primes, practical motivated lighting, and a dual-system audio workflow tuned for live club dynamics.
Result
The short premiered in a regional documentary showcase and became the anchor asset for fundraising distribution.
